Just Ask: Responses, part one

Okay, so the “Just Ask” post garnered a bit more attention than I thought it would, so I’m going to turn out a quick batch of responses now and finish any others up tomorrow. Fantastic questions so far. Here goes:

If for some reason you could only eat one more sandwich, which one would it be? (via stublag)
A monte cristo—the best sandwich ever invented.

If you weren’t a web developer, what would you be? (via tbeseda)
In my dream world, a movie director. Film is beautiful.

How do you do the Q&A form? (via ceejayoz)
It’s a Tumblr feature, just end a post with a question mark and check the box under Advanced Options. Protip: You can later edit your post and remove the question mark and it will still work.

Titanium or Phonegap? (via petvetrecs)
Good one. Titanium and Phonegap serve different purposes. Phonegap simply allows you to embed a web application and access a few core services of a mobile device. It requires something else to handle the GUI of the app, like jQTouch. Titanium, on the other hand, compiles your HTML/CSS/Javascript directly to Objective-C, and therefore can be used to create much more native-feeling interfaces. It comes with it’s own history stack, etc. The learning curve for Titanium is also a bit steeper, as you have to learn it’s various APIs to create different native elements. Both have their place.

Should i redesign my tumblr and link my other site or redesign my other site mauramcgover.com and link to my tumblr? thanks! (via texturism)
They should definitely link to each other one way or another. As far as redesigning, both look pretty solid—whichever you’ll be more excited to announce.

How do you get your hair like that? (via robday)
V05 Texturizing Gum, with 24-hour hold.

Your recommendation for best coding language 4a designer (via ninedaysoff)
For web design, you have to start with HTML/CSS/Javascript. From there move to something backend, I focus in PHP.

Whats your fav no-time’n’-empty-fridge or pasta recipe? (via ninedaysoff)
Delivery is my best friend.

Are you going to the Build Conference in Belfast on 5th November? (via dannyturley)
No, unfortunately not.

My first firefox extension is ready now. Can you help me to release it the coming month? (via ghaffarian)
Happily, but you have to give me money.

How many months of secured income did you have when you took the plunge into fulltime freelance? (via rickdt)
Another good one. Honestly, just one, but I had already established a few sources of recurring revenue like Outpost, blogging, and affiliate programs.

Okay! That’s all for now, I’ll keep posting responses later tonight or tomorrow morning. Thanks again for all the great questions, keep ‘em coming.
